Ever since its founding in 1689, Husqvarna has been at the forefront when it comes to technology and function. In many cases, the products have been the first in the world of their type.
Aluminium foundry.
500,000 cylinders produced every year.
At Husqvarna we have our own foundry for pressure die casting where we produce parts for chain saw crankcases, oil pump housings, clutch covers, flywheels and cylinders. At the foundry we work with two types of metals: magnesium and aluminium. Magnesium is used for chain saw crankcases, oil pump housings and clutch covers. Aluminium is used for flywheels and cylinders. The processing of aluminium and magnesium are fully automatic, from casting to assembly. The casting process is monitored by computer programs, for instance they control the pressure and the temperature of the metals. Manual checks are conducted continually to further ensure quality. In the production of parts, we manufacture and process crankcases, pump housings, flywheels, covers, silencers, gears etc for chain saws, power cutters and brush cutters. In the production of cylinders, we process, surface treat and assemble approx. 500,000 cylinders per year.
1 million machines produced every year in the Swedish factories.
At the factory for handheld products, we assemble chain saws, brush cutters, trimmers, pole saws, pole hedge trimmers and regular hedge trimmers. At our factory in Tandsbyn we assemble forestry clearing saws and power cutters. At the Swedish Husqvarna factories, we produce a total of one million products per year.A complete saw is put together by a group of assemblers who assemble, test run and check the saws. Before a saw leaves the assembly area it is test run in a test box. The saw is started and run to a certain number of rpm's. Then the saw goes to the final check and packaging.
An assembled Husqvarna Rider is always test driven prior to delivery.
At the Rider factory we manufacture Riders, or ride-on mowers. This production includes a number of different steps such as welding of the chassis, roll bar and engine protection bar, assembly and painting in a super-modern powder coating facility.
Husqvarna devotes considerable resources to product development. Our products undergo thorough checks at our own laboratories. We measure and evaluate the products’ quality, performance, emissions, noise and vibration levels. The products also undergo demanding field tests in various markets before they are released. We put a lot of energy into the design of our products. Our design deparment focusses on the products from a functional as well as an aesthetic point of view.
